Investing in Polaroid + New Blood + More

Journal Entry: Sun Jun 28, 2009, 6:01 PM

Hindsight sucks ass, and not in that porno-suck-ass good way. If I had known then what I know now, I would have invested in Polaroid...film

Also, we've got some fresh blood to abuse. Please stop over at :icongonzale: page and say "Hi!". Along with me, she's going to be moderating street photography...and she's pretty good at it, too. So be sure to check out her gallery.

Moving on, if you use a toy camera, I set up a community at holga.ws. I would appreciate any pimpin' help you could provide.

Finally, I'm going to put up a new poll in a sec. I want to know who's doing the World Wide Photo Walk this year. This year it's really gone global...there are 3(?) separate cities in Taiwan participating that I know of and the the city where I am (Taipei) is already booked up. There are almost 1000 world-wide. Anyway, it's 3 weeks away and there's a 50 person limit so check the website for info on if your town & country has one organized. If not, apply and set one up for your town. It's completely free and there are prizes involved.

New Features!

So I'm self-publishing a book at Lulu.com. Why Lulu? Better (lower) pricing and shipping costs you you guys.

The book is entittled Taipei Streets and I'm hoping to make it an annual publication. It's 39 pages long and contains my favorite photos from the past year as well as a couple of short essays to go along with the themed chapters, which are:

Introduction
Weather
Coffee
Books
Street Music
Jazz
About
Inspirations

You can buy my book here:

Support independent publishing: buy this book on Lulu.
</a>

It's in a medium-size 8.5"x8.5" square format (which accommodates horizontal and vertical images equally well) and I've made it available in print (US$19.55) and ebook (140MB pdf, US$6.25) versions. For the e-book version (I think) you need to go to my Lulu storefront page.

Thank you so much in advance for all your support and encouragement in this first-step. :)

I'm a Whore!

Journal History

deviantID

Who the heck are you?
I'm Brian.

Okay, what I mean is "what are you doing?"
I'm typing at my computer. Well, I mean by the time you read this I will obviously already have finished typing and saving it and will probably be doing something else... .

That's NOT what I mean! I mean, what makes you so special?
My fingerprints?

You're a jerk.
No. I'm a Brian.

WHAT DO YOU DO HERE AT dA?!?
Sheesh. No need to yell. I'm the Street Photography Gallery Moderator. It's the cooliest, awesomest gallery in the whole of the universe! I feature Daily Deviations out of the Street Photography gallery, try and keep it on-topic, and poke fun at the other galleries, which are less-awesomest then mine.

I'm currently interested in stalking you. What are you outside of DeviantArt?
In a previous life I was a software engineer. Then the bubble burst on that and now in my current existence I am an Elementary school teacher. I was born and raised in the South Bay area of California (err...not Oakland, but the SoCal South Bay...Torrance, Hawthorne, Carson, etc... .). A few years back I took a software engineering contract in Taipei, Taiwan and moved 10,000 Km to the left. I've been here in the R.O.C. ever since.

Brian, will you FAQ me?
FAQ #61: What is a Daily Deviation?
FAQ #18: Who selects the Daily Deviation and how is it chosen?
FAQ #873: What do I do when I disapprove of a Daily Deviation feature?
FAQ #82: What are the guidelines for Volunteer Gallery Moderators?
FAQ #84: What are the Core Values of the Community Relations and Operations Departments?
