What do you think would be a fair price for an eBook of street photography from Taipei? Non-DRM'd, ePub for iBooks/Sony eReader/B&N Nook and PDF for everything else.

So, I've spent a couple years writing it and a few months considering how to release it into the world. I decided to go Inkshares, which is kind of a Kickstarter with author-specific goal rewards, like free editorial services, guaranteed physical space in bookstores, etc... .

Fingers crossed that I can get at least 250 pre-orders, which will net me the editorial services. For a 100K-word document, that's something very cost-prohibitive.

 Shift Revision 2 by bQw

Here's the short blurb:
"Other dimensions exist, flush with resources to be exploited.

With the delivery of a cryptic flash drive, doctor of applied physics and recent science journalist hire to a popular magazine, Pei Xiao has just landed her first big break. Driven by the need to prove herself to a family she betrayed, she finds herself partnered to a photojournalist when she accepts a mysterious assignment. It is a path of intrigue, adventure, and horror in this science fiction tale."

There are a couple of reviews from beta readers, some story inspirations, a horribly cheezy trailer I threw together, and even a bit of fan art on the Inkshares page.
Hey Everyone!

I wanted to let you know that my book, Shift, is taking pre-orders on Inkshares! It's a hard science fiction story about multiple-dimensionality and was inspired by my favorite Lovecraft short, "From Beyond", and a Star Talk podcast on dimensionality that I was listening to as I was re-reading the story. It has an intelligent female protagonist and strong secondary characters. I think that you'll love reading it as much as I'm loving writing it. You can read a sample chapter, plucked from the middle of the book, on Inkshares right now.

Here's the link to my book:

Inkshares will publish my book and distribute it to bookstores when when 750 copies are pre-ordered. I'd love your support!

If you decide to create an account (not required) , you should get an email with a $5 credit within 24 hours. Perfect for applying to... Say... The preorder of a wonderful SciFi book with an intelligent female protagonist and creative story.

Thank You!

Today I officially passed the halfway point of my first real effort in writing a long-form story and I decided that it was time to start putting together the more ancillary things like a blurb, pricing line editors,

And cover art.

And there's no better place than dA to do that, so...

It's a hard SciFi story dealing with interdimensionality so surrealism is okay.  The main protagonist is a 20s Asian female, physics PhD, science journalist. A secondary protagonist is a middle-aged African American male, photojournalist. Oh, and the other dimension has giant floating Portuguese Man O War jellyfish. And less gravity.

If you are interested and want to give it a shot, please message me what you require for compensation (money, credits, etc...). Please bear in mind that this is entirely the independent production of a slightly twisted Elementary school teacher.

Who the heck are you?
I'm Brian.

Okay, what I mean is "what are you doing?"
I'm typing at my computer. Well, I mean by the time you read this I will obviously already have finished typing and saving it and will probably be doing something else... .

That's NOT what I mean! I mean, what makes you so special?
My fingerprints?

You're a jerk.
No. I'm a Brian.

Sheesh. No need to yell. Nothing anymore. For 18 months I was the Street Photography Gallery Moderator. Now I'm retired and enjoy being a genre Nazi.

I'm currently interested in stalking you. What are you outside of DeviantArt?
In a previous life I was a software engineer. Then the bubble burst on that and now in my current existence I am an Elementary school teacher. I was born and raised in the South Bay area of California (err...not Oakland, but the SoCal South Bay...Torrance, Hawthorne, Carson, etc... .). A few years back I took a software engineering contract in Taipei, Taiwan and moved 10,000 Km to the left. I've been here in the R.O.C. ever since.

Brian, will you FAQ me?
