Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me. :la:
Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang. :D
The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

I will have to agree with you on this one too. The art can speak for itself! Another thing that freaks me out is when people ask me about which camera I use, as if it is everything. I tend to reply them asking what brand is their mouth :lmao:

I use an Olympus. You'd be able to take awesome photos too if you sold all of your gear and just got an Olympus and one 17mm lens. In fact, I pity you so much that I'm willing to make a trade. Yes, I know...it's a hard sacrifice, but you'll never get anything good with that D3X.

Wow, a 17 mm in an Olympus must be very versatile I must say. That is right, it is a hard choice but for street photography this should be very fine. I have a 55mm that I often use too, it is good for trying night shots because of its aperture of f/1.4. BTW your tips on shooting street at night are very good, thanks for sharing!
