So yeah, I don't just take photos. I like to sketch, too...and the iPad makes drawing very convenient with no need to waste paper, ink, and lead.

And contrary to what Steve Job's ghost thinks, using a stylus to draw with is preferable to using your finger.

I've been drawing on an iPad for almost two years now and have at some point invested in pretty much every type of stylus out there. I decided to review 3 of them. I chose these 3 for two reasons: they are among the most popular and each is fundamentally different from the other.

If you don't want to read my iPad stylus review (y'know...'cause words iz hurd), I came to the conclusion that the Pogo Sketch (and other capacitive foam nib-type styli) is crap, the Adonit Jot Classic is wonderfully accurate and well-balanced but has durability and convenience issues, and the Watcom Bamboo is perfectly weighted and balanced, feels wonderful in the hand, but isn't as accurate.

And before you ask, I have tried dozens of cheap made-in-China styli and none has lasted more than a few months of regular usage or is more than a "button masher". Most have either a high-density rubber nib that doesn't drag (and so is useless for writing or drawing) or has a thin rubber skin over an internal spring that wears down quickly. And don't get me started on those "stylus-as-pen" combination things...they become completely useless after switching from stylus to pen a few times.

Anyway, to read the details of my stylus experience (as well as what sketching apps I use and some of my sketches) see my blog article here: www.photojazz.ws/2012/04/the-b…
