Maybe because when I saw the poll in my inbox, and saw them stacked on top of each other, I think it'd look good as a sequence. Just sayin'. I'm really no photography guru.
i enjoy the first one because of how tense the dog is and i feel this creates a better interaction between the girl and the dog, even though it is less obvious. i like the expactantness of the dog and the way the owner seems to be ignoring him/her. as a few other people have said, my problem is it is that it looks like the shot has been framed to include the dog more than the owner and she is cut off a bit - but this happens in both shots, and overall i like the first one more.
I have to go with the first one, mainly because of the tension between the dog("Please feed me, me iz a good pup!!!") and the owner eating the burguer like without noticing the dog's applicative stare. Great moment there! Definitely the first one.
P.d - Totally agree with =Eliza-mac's statement above.
I prefer the one where she's not feeding the dog, but I like the composition of the feeding one better, particularly the top of her head (it feels more complete)

Look to this dog and how he`s looking to the eating girl. I can read a wish in his eyes
